The Challenge is open to students in Years 9-12 who are currently enrolled in a secondary school in Ghana or Nigeria. Participants must also reside in one of these countries.
Applicants must fill out the online application form, which includes personal information, project details, and a link to their video pitch. Additionally, they must ensure their school endorses their application by submitting a nomination on their behalf.
Important dates include the application opening date, submission deadline, announcement of finalists, and the date for the final presentation and award ceremony. These dates will be communicated through the Challenge website and official communications.
Your proposal should detail the climate-related problem your project addresses, your proposed solution, how it aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and its potential impact. Additionally, explain how your project can be scaled and how you will use the initial $500 to reach the startup stage.
The video pitch should be no longer than 3 minutes, filmed in landscape orientation, and uploaded to YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok Shorts. Ensure you tag Edufair Africa on all platforms. Your pitch should introduce your project, the problem it solves, and why it’s innovative and impactful.
Applications will be evaluated based on innovation, impact, feasibility, alignment with SDGs, and the clarity and persuasiveness of the video pitch.
Yes, only individuals can participate/submit a proposal. However, if you prefer to work in a team, ensure that all team members meet the eligibility criteria.
Winners will receive cash prizes, with amounts varying based on their final ranking. Additionally, scholarships and other opportunities may be offered by our partners. Specific prize details will be provided in the official Challenge materials.
Personal information collected during the application process will be used solely for the purpose of the Challenge and will not be shared with third parties without explicit consent.
If your project is among the finalists, you will receive $500 to implement your proposal and further instructions on preparing for the final presentation and defense before the judging panel.
